Hearth of Hampstead

September 2024 - June 2025

Part of MArch 4th year

Through the re-imagining of sustainable, inner-city apartment blocks, this project presents how architecture can mediate the surrounding context in terms of scale, use, and community engagement.

The project comprised of 3 main parts: community ground-level, residential blocks, and groundscaping. The massing of the blocks helps mediate the disparity in scale between the small residential and large hospital building. The groundscaping creates an active facade onto the hospital, on what was previously an unused car park. The ground-level community spaces, such as the sports hall, engage the locals whilst providing much-needed activity space for the neighbouring primary school.

This work is comprised of 3 modules of 4th year, part group work and part individual.
